The summer of 1898 was quite busy for Fort Mott. With the outbreak of war with Spain after the battleship MAINE exploded in Havana Harbor, Cuba, Fort Mott and the rest of the newly constructed harbor defenses were called to action for the first time. Come out to the park to learn what was going on during the Spanish-American War at Fort Mott and across the world in such places as the Phlippines, Puerto Rico, and Cuba.
Throughout the day, US and Spanish troops and sailors will be on hand to provide a glimpse into the summer of 1898.
